Welcome your Chapter Incoming Governor, Dr. Robert Malanuk
Robert Malanuk, MD, has been elected to the position of Governor Elect for the South Carolina Chapter.
A native of Columbia, SC, Dr. Malanuk returned home over two decades ago to serve his community as an interventional cardiologist. Today, he leads as Director of the Heart and Vascular Center at Lexington Medical Center, where he has championed quality initiatives, expanded interventional services, and mentored early-career physicians. With degrees from Davidson College and the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Malanuk values collaboration and patient-centered care while raising four children—two currently pursuing nursing at MUSC.
Dr. Malanuk has been an active member of the American College of Cardiology for 26 years, serving two terms as South Carolina Chapter Councilor and currently as Chapter Treasurer. His leadership has helped foster educational opportunities and advocacy efforts across South Carolina. Under his guidance, Lexington Medical Center achieved multiple accreditations, including Chest Pain Center and HeartCare Center of Excellence status, reflecting his commitment to evidence-based, high-quality cardiac care.
Dr. Malanuk envisions strengthening engagement across all stages of cardiovascular careers, advocating for equitable care, and amplifying the chapter’s voice in health policy and community outreach.
"My vision as Governor centers on three core goals: (1) to strengthen professional engagement across all stages of cardiovascular careers, (2) to advocate for equitable and evidence based cardiovascular care, and (3) to elevate our chapter’s voice in health policy and community outreach. I bring to this role a blend of clinical leadership, advocacy experience, and a commitment to mentorship."
He will serve as Chapter Governor Elect from March 2026-2027 and become Chapter Governor March 2027.
